Education

The building blocks for life: invest in a child's development and give them the platform to succeed. A gift from this group will support education and literacy projects, supply low-cost educational toys, support teacher training and school leadership development and provide access to quality early childhood development programmes.

South Africa needs educated, skilled and literate citizens to help it grow and thrive. Investing in education provides people with the resources they need – from properly-trained teachers and up-to-date books, to modern classrooms and recreation facilities – to reach their full potential and become productive, stable members of society.

Toy library

Mbuba is a rural community in KwaZulu-Natal. With only one pre-school, a primary school and no high school, Mbuba is a severely impoverished community where children have limited access to learning and development opportunities. This project will install and equip an educational toy library in a secure shipping container, improving the quality of play opportunities and providing children with constructive leisure time activities.

The library will include a covered play area where facilitated play sessions will introduce toys and games and the library concept. Over 200 local children will be able to borrow toys from the library and teachers will have access to a wide variety of toys and games to use in class.
